Exercise Fights Common Cold

A recent research study shows that proper and regular exercise can have good benefits for the body including fighting the common cold.

In the U.S. alone, adults can expect to catch a cold for two to four time a year while children can catch a cold on an average of six to ten incidents a year. If combined, common colds can amount to at least $40 billion lost from the US economy. This new research study shows that one of the inexpensive ways of preventing colds is exercise. The study collected data from 1,002 subjects (male and female) with an age range of 18-25. They were studied for 12 weeks from autumn-winter of 2008 and the researchers tracked the number of upper respiratory tract infection they suffered during the period as well as recording what kind of aerobic exercise the subjects did weekly. Lifestyle, dietary patterns, and stressful events during the course of the study were also considered for the research.
