Many people (trainers included) feel that working in their cardiovascular exercise into day to day life can be a daunting task.  The surgeon general recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise per day, which many of us fail to get due to our sedentary lifestyles.  This makes it very important to get that time on the treadmill or out for a jog just to maintain a healthy lifestyle, not to mention its pivotal role in achieving your weight loss goals.  If the weather is not allowing you to go outside less forgiving, here are some tips to get you through cardio indoors.
Watch television/listen to music/listen to digital books—anything to distract you and keep you entertained.
Cover the time monitor with a towel so you are not counting down every second.
Do cardio with a friend. (or an FT trainer!)
Vary your routine/type of equipment used—this also helps in avoiding plateaus.
Use the programs set in the machines—no thought required so you don’t have to think about your next adjustment of incline or speed.
Set goals so that you know you are accomplishing something (example—run 2 miles in 20 minutes at a 2.0 incline), and then make new ones when you reach them!
Happy sweating!!
