New Sodium Guidlines

Many health watchers had assumed that the new guidelines would follow the advice of the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, whose June report suggested cutting the daily recommended sodium intake to 1,500 mgs for all Americans. But the USDA decided to keep it at "less than 2,300," for those outside of at-risk groups (which include elderly, children, most adults, African-Americans and those with hypertension, diabetes or kidney disease) who are advised to consume fewer than 1,500 mgs per day.  Entire article at Chicago Tribune
