Why do you like Fitness Together?
I like FT because it is a planned exercise program. Each session is managed by a trainer who does more than count reps. She or he has a designed program that has been developed to ensure that I am getting the most out of the particular session, and we follow it according to my needs on that particular day. For instance, if we are working on triceps, the trainer will ensure that I do the tricep exercise and at the same time guard that I not strain my back, which sometimes needs special care. The trainer and I work together so that I get full benefit from the session without causing any other problems.
Tell us some of the results you have achieved: My Body Mass is down, and I have lost weight…even though I could lose another 10 pounds. That is my goal for the up-coming months.
Do you do PACK training? Why do you like it? I enjoy pack training because I enjoy the people with whom I workout. We make it fun when we are working, even though we meet at 7:30 a.m.
Why do you like one on one training? I like the fact that the trainer is working WITH me and helping me to meet my goals. I also have confidence that the trainers here know their “stuff.”
Tell us about any hobbies you may have: I do a lot of volunteer work for my church and I enjoy reading.
What city and state are you from? I was born in southwest England and grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. I came over with my mom after World War II at 18 months. My wife will tell you that I learned to talk in Alabama, not in England.
Tell us about your children and/or pets: I have one son, a neurologist. He lives in Mississippi. I have two springer spaniels, Winston and Harry, and two cats, Erin and Tara. When you include the three zebra finches, you can see why I tell everyone I live on Animal Planet.
Who is your significant other? Nancy works for the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Atlanta. She is in charge of their Institute of Ministry and Theological Education. She is a budding artist and loves gardening.
What is your favorite exercise? Anything but lunges could be included as my favorites.
What is your favorite healthy food? I like sweet potatoes, broccoli and grilled chicken. These make a great meal.
What is your favorite “bad” food? I like chocolate, particularly dark chocolate.
What is your profession? I am retired after a career in information technology. I wrote software and managed large mainframe computers for insurance companies and consulted with some of the largest insurance and telecommunication companies. How Long? Over forty years…I started working with computers right out of college…when they were first being used in business My career also included the advent of personal computers and servers.
What is your favorite movie? Probably “To Kill a Mockingbird,” “Casablanca.” or “Momento.” I enjoy thrillers, too.
How did you discover Fitness Together? I received a flyer in the mail and followed up on it because I was concerned about my weight.
