Two of the most destructive words you can ever tell yourself is- I CAN'T!
Too often I hear people say things like...
I CAN'T do this exercise!
I CAN'T get out of bed to exercise!
I CAN'T eat vegetables!
I CAN'T - I CAN'T - I CAN'T
B.S. - B.S. - B.S.!
The truth is when you say "I CAN'T" ------- YOU CAN! Eliminate the word I CAN'T unless it's I CAN'T afford not to exercise, I CAN'T stop eating good food, etc. Better yet, use the words "I CAN!" It's just as powerful. Say it with me...
I CAN do squats!
I CAN get out of bed to exercise!
I CAN make my own lunch and eat vegetables!
I CAN - I CAN - I CAN!
These are two equally powerful words that can have just as much of an impact on your life. You just have to use those two words more often!
It's not easy to promote positive self-talk, conversely, I CAN'T is easy to say because it gives you a lame excuse to avoid failure. However, with practice, the better you become. Here's a trick. If you say I CAN'T a lot, type out the words I CAN and print it out. Hang it on your fridge. Place it on the desktop of your computer. Put it in a picture frame.
